The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®) provides the world’s premier futures and options markets for several internationally traded agricultural commodities, such as: cocoa, coffee, cotton, frozen concentrated orange juice and sugar. For well over a century, representatives of these primary commodity industries have joined traders and investors in the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) markets to engage in price discovery, price risk transfer and price dissemination for these products.
September 11, 2001, was a difficult and defining moment for the NYBOT exchanges when the destruction of the World Trade Center forced NYBOT to re-locate to its back up facility in Long Island City and remain there for two years. In 2003, NYBOT moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in the World Financial Center. With that return, the New York Board of Trade continued its long history in Lower Manhattan.
In 1980, NYBOT Futures & Options for Kids was founded. NYBOT Futures & Options for Kids is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to raise funds for children in need. Funds are raised throughout the entire futures industry. Through the efforts of the Board of Directors and many committed volunteers, NYBOT Futures & Options for Kids has played a large part in promoting philanthropy throughout the Futures Industry by sponsoring various fund raising events and promoting volunteerism among exchange membership, staff and employees.
In 2005, Building Homes for Heroes began a relationship with members of NYBOT Futures & Options for Kids and The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange and the preeminent trading forum for energy and precious metals. Both organizations believe that in sharing in the wealth of the industry, they can provide a brighter future for many in need.
On Veterans Day 2006, through the help of individuals like Pat Gambaro, Tom Greene, Fred Cambria, Theresa Silk, Carolyn Paszke, Anthony Grisanti, Carmine Rando and many others, we were able to generate more than $32,000 for the brave men and women of our military through the sale of long-sleeved tee shirts. |
