ICAP is the world’s largest voice and electronic interdealer broker with a daily average transaction volume in excess of $1 trillion, 50% of which is electronic.  The Group is active in the wholesale market for OTC derivatives, fixed income securities, money market products, foreign exchange, energy, credit and equity derivatives.

Since the beginning, ICAP has always given money to charity.  In 1993, when the firm had grown to around 100 people in London, it was decided to do something on a larger and more innovative scale which would make a significant difference to charities.  The idea of the ICAP Charity Day was born, a day on which all revenues and commissions would be given away to just a few charities, which meant each would receive a large amount of money which would really make a difference to their operations.  This gave the firm and its customers a unique way of contributing to society, especially in view of our privileged position in the financial world.

This method of giving is very different from the normal way that companies choose to give to charity by donating money out of their profits.  At ICAP, the brokers themselves are giving away their own commissions to charity, as well as the company giving away its revenues.  In the 13 years that ICAP has been holing Charity Day, the organization has raised over $47 million USD.  In 2005, ICAP raised over $9 million USD on Worldwide Charity Day.

Building Homes for Heroes was presented with a check for $200,000 to go toward a new home for the family of Staff Sergeant Jason Pepper.  In May of 2004, Sergeant Pepper’s convoy was ambushed in Karbala, Iraq, leaving Jason without both eyes, with a piece of shrapnel the size of a silver dollar lodged into the right side of his brain, the loss of smell and taste and the loss of his left index finger.  He has lost mobility in his left hand and has little to no feeling in the hand.  Other ailments include a shattered right arm from elbow to wrist, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a traumatic brain injury, as well as numerous orbital fractures around the eye sockets.  Jason’s left hand is badly deformed and he has developed very bad arthritis in his bones.

Thanks to ICAP, Jason, his wife Heather and their two young daughters are living in their dream home in Primm Springs, Tennessee.
