Chase and Building Homes for Heroes partner on veterans housing inititiave
One of the most important moments in the history of Building Homes for Heroes® came about in 2012 when it was selected to be a partner in JPMorgan Chase's Home Ownership Assistance program. Chase has pledged to gift 1,000 homes to veterans over a five-year period through its non-profit partners. It has also provided numerous financial donations, and is a major sponsor at nearly all Building Homes for Heroes® events.
To date, Building Homes for Heroes® has been gifted 155 homes through this program in more than 25 states from coast to coast. Chase carries out considerable work to make the necessary repairs to the homes, and Building Homes for Heroes® enhances and modifies the homes to meet the needs of the veteran. The home is then presented to the veteran at no cost and with no mortgage.
This remarkable partnership with Chase has enabled Building Homes for Heroes® to assist considerably more veterans in need. Chase also assists in the recipient's transition into his or her new home, and in the area of financial counseling.
In addition to providing homes to veterans, Chase, through alliances with major corporate employers, committed to hiring a minimum of 100,000 veterans in total by 2020. This goal has been reached, and Chase is now homing in on 200,000.
