4th Annual Golf Classic 2008
4th Annual Golf Classic 2008 - Hempstead New York

Thank you for your support of the 4th Annual Building Homes for Heroes Golf Classic at the Hempstead Golf and Country Club. In many ways, the event was a tremendous success. I’d like to once again express my gratitude for your assistance in helping the men and women of the military. We’re happy to announce that the golf outing and dinner raised nearly $28,000.

One of the highlights of the event was hearing Kimberly Levi, sister of Army Corporal Christopher Levi who was severely wounded in Iraq, take the time to speak about her brother and to thank all in attendance for their generosity. Thanks to your contributions, Building Homes for Heroes presented Corporal Levi with a check for $50,000 to support the costs associated with renovating his family home in Holbrook, Long Island.

As is customary at our events, Army Sergeant Josh Forbess presented The Fallen Comrade table. The ceremony recognizes all of those who lost their lives while serving the country. The ceremony was capped off with a stirring rendition of Amazing Grace by a NYPD Pipe and Drum band. Retired Army Corporal J.R. Martinez was also on hand for the event.

Our guest of honor was Bud Harrelson. While Bud is best known for his time spent with the New York Mets, he is now very active in the Long Island community through his position as Senior VP of Baseball Operations and Co-Owner of the Long Island Ducks baseball team. Bud was joined by Ed Kranepool, Ed Charles, Art Shamsky, Mrs. Joan Hodges and Gil Hodges, Jr.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a special thank you to the members and staff of the Hempstead Golf and Country Club. Without their continuous support, this event would not be possible.

We hope that we can count on your support during this year’s golf classic and at future events. Thank you for all of your support, friendship and patriotism.

Respectfully,

Andy Pujol
